SAND DOLLARS - BY THE DOZENS

This was a good day for sand dollars. I found about ten that were not broken which is very unusual in my experience. I think I hit the low tide perfectly and it was a rare negative tide (-1.1). Also there were very few people on the beach to compete with - I imagine they decided to work today after celebrating Valentines Day. In addition to the fun of finding sand dollars it was cool to walk out further than usual on the sandbars. I get mesmerized when walking along the ocean - it such a treat. "The best things in life are free." I think I have heard that quote before and it seemed to be true today.
Guess what - another negative tide tomorrow (-1.4) you know where I will be.

OH WHAT A DAY!

I had the privilege of experiencing something that will never happen again in my lifetime -- the 100 Year Celebration of Naval Aviation.  To begin with it's hard to beat a sunny San Diego 75 degree day -  but when you add 200 planes flying over Coronado Bridge and up the San Diego Bay with the city skyline in the background it just doesn't get any better.   The show started with aircraft from the early years and proceeded through WWI & WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam.  The second half of the flyover was comprised of current Naval and Marine Corps aircraft. The flyover ended with 36 planes flying in perfect formation overhead.   It was truly a history lesson before our eyes.
